The software running the mailing lists is Mailman. It provides a very comfortable web interface. A manual can be found here.

ASAMnet e. V.  makes maling lists available for its members for free. The initial setup of a mailinglist is done by our system administration. Configuration and administration of the mailinglist can be done by yourself using the web interface of Mailman afterwards.

To get a mailinglist please ask system(at)asamnet.de.

A mailing list is sort of a photocopier: Each message you sent to the list gets copied to all members of the list. So, you write a mail to englishtalk@asamnet.de, and all members receive a copy of your message. You're able to send and receive information fast and efficiently - or you're able to make yourself unpopular with a lot of people at once. So please read this preliminary information here.

As with almost all mailing lists, posting messages in HTML isn't considered good manners. So if you're posting to a mailing list, please set the message format to "plain text" and "ISO-8859-1". Otherwise, the recipients may see garbled characters.

Never send any attached files to mailing lists. Apart from being considered extremely bad style, you're clogging the server and all members of the list. Most of them aren't interested in your attatchment either. Rather, put the file into your account and send the internet address with your mail. So, the recipients can decide for themselves whether they want to download your file or not.

Avoid embarrassing moments: Read the "Netiquette" - the net etiquette guidelines, for example at http://www.albion.com/netiquette/ before you send your first message.

At ASAMnet e. V. there are public and private mailing lists. Unlike to public mailing lists to which everybody can subscribe, you need the allowance of the administrator of the maling list to subscribe to a private mailing list. Private mailing lists are often used by closed groups to discuss.

Afterwards there is a list of the mailing lists available at the moment. The list is available in german language only because of the fact that the mailing list owner can set the description of the mailing list in the preferred language.
